Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Notch mobile app ("Notch", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Notch you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

• Account information. Your email address and a password (stored only in securely hashed form by our authentication provider), or, if you use Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, a unique account identifier and the email associated with that provider. You also choose a username.
• Profile and preferences. Your learning goal, topic interests, time zone, preferred daily digest time, and app appearance setting.
• Learning activity. The quiz answers you submit, scores, completion history, streaks, concept and practice progress, and any feedback you choose to send us.
• Technical data. Our backend provider records standard operational logs (such as IP address, timestamps, and app version) needed to run and secure the service.

We do not collect your contacts, photos, precise location, or advertising identifiers, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

2. How we use your information

• To deliver your daily digest, quizzes, streaks, and personalized learning.
• To create and maintain your account and sync your progress across devices.
• To send the reminders and notifications you enable (these are scheduled locally on your device).
• To improve the app and respond to feedback you send us.
• To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.

3. How your information is shared

We do not sell your personal information and we do not use it for advertising. We share data only with the service providers that help us run Notch:

• Supabase - database, authentication, and hosting.
• Google and/or Apple - only if you choose to sign in with them, to authenticate you.

We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the service.

4. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account at any time inside the app at Profile → Account → Delete account. Deleting your account removes your profile and associated learning data. Residual copies in routine encrypted backups are purged within approximately 30 days.

5. Your rights

You can access and correct your information in the app, and delete your account and data using the in-app deletion described above. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK or California), you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or port your data. Contact us to make such a request.

6. Security

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS), and access to your records is restricted by per-user database rules. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

7. Children

Notch is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

8. International users

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, which may have different data-protection laws.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
